Due to the recently enacted Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act, the Section 179 limits have been extended through 2010. For tax years beginning in 2010, the maximum amount a business can expense under Section 179 is $250,000 and the expensing election begins to phase out when a business buys more than $800,000 of Section 179 eligible assets. These dollars limits are the same for those that were in effect for 2008 and 2009.
