Mason + Rich Announces Employee Promotions (July 2026)
July, 2026
Join us in congratulating our recently promoted employees! With bi-annual reviews occurring in January and July, the firm typically has two opportunities for staff to be recognized for moving into a senior position. The following promotions were recognized during the July 2026 reviews:
Alyssa Specht – Staff Accountant III
Samantha Binning – Senior Manager - Individual & Trust Tax
Christine Heise - Senior Manager - Audit & Assurance
Nathan Walker - Senior Manager - Business Tax
Alyssa Specht, promoted to Staff Accountant III, joined the team in September 2023. She primarily works on the preparation of individual tax returns and is interested in researching tax law and applying it to tax situations. Alyssa relocated to New Hampshire from Long Island, NY to gain more experience in public accounting and sit for the CPA exams. Alyssa earned both her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Science in Accounting at The College of SUNY (State University of New York) Brockport. Before moving to the Granite State, she was working for a privately held insurance third-party administrator as a Staff Accountant. She currently lives in Allenstown, New Hampshire with her fiancé, Tucker. She enjoys cooking, traveling to New York to see her family and friends, and watching her favorite football team, the Jets.
Samantha Binning, promoted to Senior Manager - Individual & Trust Tax, started at Mason + Rich in June 2023 and has over 10 years of experience in public accounting, primarily providing tax compliance, tax planning, and consulting to individuals and business entities. She values being a member of a great team working together to provide quality client service. She loves solving a good puzzle, whether that’s solving a tax, software, accounting problem, or an actual jigsaw puzzle! Sammie is a graduate of Plymouth State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and has a Master of Science in Accounting with a concentration in taxation from Southern New Hampshire University. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New Hampshire, as well as a member of the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Sammie lives in Concord, NH with her husband, Kirk and beagle, Korra. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending as much time outside as possible. You might find her relaxing in her backyard, dining at a restaurant, lounging at the beach, hiking in the mountains, or at Disney World, or on a Disney Cruise.
Christine Heise, promoted to Senior Manager - Audit & Assurance, joined Mason & Rich in 2025 and brings over 25 years of experience in not-for-profit, higher education, and governmental accounting. She brings her expertise in financial reporting and analysis, risk management, data analytics, internal controls, Uniform Guidance, compliance, and audits. She enjoys developing strong relationships with her clients and helping to provide innovative solutions to enhance financial and business operations and compliance. Christine earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from Plymouth State University. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of New Hampshire and member of the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Christine lives in Concord with her husband, daughter, and son. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends at Lake Winnipesaukee, and cheering on her son at his hockey games.
Nathan Walker, promoted to Senior Manager - Business Tax, joined us in 2019. On most tax returns, what feels risky and what is risky are two different things. Clients brace for the first and overlook the second. Nathan's work is telling them apart, and acting on the difference. Nathan is a Business Tax Manager at Mason + Rich, specializing in partnership taxation. He is one of a handful of accountants in New Hampshire who regularly uses the IRS's formal disclosure procedures - taking strong, defensible positions other firms avoid, and disclosing them properly so they hold up if questioned. He works closely with each client to weigh the real risk, explain it in plain terms, and settle on a position that fits their facts, circumstances, and tolerance, rather than defaulting to a caution that quietly costs them. That same judgment is tested in his work as an expert witness, where he prepares reports and testimony on loss analysis for legal disputes. To make sense of the enormous datasets these cases turn on, he pairs his accounting expertise with programming in Python, SQL, and RegEx - an uncommon combination that lets him find the facts buried in the data and stand behind them under scrutiny. He has carried those same tools into his work as an outsourced controller, building custom accounting solutions for clients across industries that include timber and healthcare. Nathan holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New Hampshire, a member of the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants, and has passed Level I of the CFA program. He lives in Bedford with his wife and their three children. In his free time he enjoys riding mountain bike trails on his unicycle, and though you couldn’t tell by looking at him, is an aspiring amateur powerlifter.
