Meet Mariah Patterson:
Mariah earned her Bachelor of Science degree in International Business and Management at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine where she became interested in the accounting profession. She is currently a student at University of New Hampshire (UNH) and looks forward to sitting for the CPA exams in the near future.

How long have you been with Mason + Rich?
I’m almost half way through my third year at Mason + Rich!
What are 3 fun facts about yourself?
1) I worked at Disney twice!
2) I love to travel! I just came back from Iceland!
3) I spend my free time keeping my cat and dog busy

Describe an interesting hobby or pastime that you have.
If I’m not planning a new trip, I enjoy trying new recipes! I try anything from dinner to dessert.
What is the best advice you can give someone who just started their career?
There is no one correct way to start your career; not all paths are going to look the same.
What is your specialty?
I don’t have a specialty at the moment, the apprenticeship program allows me to explore all aspects of accounting.
What area of tax/accounting do you like best and why?
I enjoy all aspects of taxes and finding ways to help clients save on taxes.
What is your favorite part of New Hampshire and why?
My favorite part about NH are all the different seasons, my favorite is the summer!
What does your position entail/what's your favorite part about your position?
I started as an Accounting Apprentice working with our CAS team, now I’m still an Accounting apprentice working with our Audit team. My favorite part is learning the different levels of financial statements, Compilations, Reviews, and Audits along with working on more complex bookkeeping.
Do you have any family traditions?
My favorite family tradition is getting together for everyone's birthdays to have a day to celebrate them.
What is your favorite tax/accounting fun facts?
The IRS has over 800 different tax forms available on their website.
